Accident Support Program

The Accident Support Program operates Australia wide and does NOT afford any cover for members whilst engaged in footballing activities overseas.

Football NSW has announced new initiatives through the Accident Support Program benefiting footballers and members from across the state.

Cover is provided for injuries caused by active participation in officially organised games, official practice and training sessions, and official functions.

The Accident Support Program is designed to supplement loss of income and non-Medicare expenses and is part of the Football NSW Limited Risk Management strategy.

As Football NSW manages all insurance for footballers and members in the state, the following increased benefits to the Accident Support Program are effective from the following seasons:

Season 2007

  • Increased physiotherapy benefits from $300 to $350 per claim
  • Increased lodgment of period claim from 30 days to 60 days.

Season 2008

  •  Increased percentage recovery of medical accounts from 75% to 85%

Season 2009

  • Increased benefit for loss of wages from 75% to 85% of average weekly earnings or $200 whichever is less.
  • Increased household/injury assistance from 75% to 85%

Season 2010

  • Increased funeral benefits from $2500 to $5000
  • Increased capital benefits from $10000 to $20000 for under 18 year olds
  • Increased capital benefits from $50000 to $100000 for over 18 year olds
  • Increased lodgment of period claim from 60 days to 90 days.

Other Benefits

If a member has an agreed excess with their health fund which relates to operations performed at a private hospital then you may claim this excess from our Accident Support Scheme. (conditions apply, please check with our insurers)

These improved benefits are as a direct result of Football NSW’s decision to partially self insure.

Football NSW will continue to work tirelessly towards providing an Accident Support Program that provides as much benefit as possible whilst maintaining premiums at an affordable level.

All the above improvements have been achieved at no increased cost to players and members.

Football NSW has been able to hold the premium at the same rates since 2005 which has been a significant achievement during the time of inflation.

Exclusions

Please note that certain exclusions are made from the Public liability cover. The following are important exclusions of which to be aware:

  • Employers liability
  • Contractual liability
  • Directors & Officers liability

Decisions made by individual office bearers and directors may incur liabilities as they could be held responsible at law. Should you be in a position of Director or Officer, alternative insurance should be sought as this insurance is not included in this particular programme.

DIRECTORS AND OFFICERS INSURANCE

What does a D&O Insurance policy cover?

A Directors and Officers Policy ('D&O') is designed to protect the personal assets of Directors or Officers by providing indemnity for any loss arising from a claim as a result of a "Wrongful Act" committed while they are carrying out their duties and obligations in their position as a Director or Officer. In today's litigious and regulatory environment, Directors or Officers are held personally liable for the management of the affairs of the company. This exposure is not limited to large corporations, but Directors or Officers of small "Mum and Dad" companies are similarly exposed.

Football NSW has in place a Corporate Advantage Management Liability (D & O) Insurance policy , which includes protection for Clubs & Officials. The definition of the” Insured” under this policy includes “…. Director, secretary, executive officer, permanent, part time, temporary or casual employee, member, volunteer, trustee or committee member ….”.

Naturally, the protection provided by this insurance policy is strictly limited to activities directly related to the management & operation of Football NSW Ltd & it’s Clubs, including Futsal.

The Corporate Advantage Management Liability (D & O) policy has an aggregate limit of liability of $2 Million.
